Friends for life
Valerie visited today, I have just recently re-connected with her after a long hiatus of time. She's had a beautiful darling baby girl, Sophie Jane and so much has happened as it would when you lose contact with a best friend after 8 years of time. Her mother passed away this Christmas, which is actually why I called her, to my disappointment, I called too late. Sweet Gloria had already passed, and I was too late to be the friend I wish I could have been. But God is bigger than me and he has reunited us in a way that only her mother would have been so happy for us. She loved me like her own daughter. Gloria saw me in my darkest days and she loved me in spite of my blunders, she was an amazing woman, I'll never forget her for her love for me.
To my wonderful delight, Sophie Jane will bring me much joy, having no daughter of my own, I already have fallen in love with her, Valerie is an amazing mother. I praise God for bringing us together after all this time. I cannot wait to spend so much more time with her. I love you my sweet pal.
Love Cassie

ReplyDeleteDearest my Pals,
It was another successful day at the Free Market, new faces, both friends & volunteers, always the greatest sight. It feels like a party and God is the Host. We had one of the biggest crowds yet, so big we've collectively decided to implement a process that will address "hoarding" and increase our relationships with all that are coming, both helpers and recipients of God's amazing love. "How will it work?", Well, we are going to test it out coming in March, reminding you we are closed next Sat. so we'll put systems in place by first Sat. in March. We'll be open first three Sat in March. Come. We need you, God's people need you, you will be blessed beyond your imagination.
Charmaine received the neighbors trundle bed, she and others need dressers if you have extra. She lives in Mosby Ct, federal housing, and has furnished her entire apt with Free market wares, she's so grateful, Today she brought a friend and volunteered the entire time. Not to mention with the biggest smile ever, most of these folks wanting to feel loved and needed(who doesn't want that), so when we make a connection, remember them by name, encourage them to come back, and even hit a service or two, they are receiving God's love through us. 40 days of love talks all about this, it really is quite simple...loving others through deepening relationships. Gods love just shines through.
Deb H. asked a free market friend what she needed most, she replied " I wish I could read better, and understand Gods word more." Deb was brought to her knees with Gods humble ways, she's a teacher. She'd like to have a 30 minute Sat morning bible study...open for all.
"Coco" is a young girl of 18, just getting out of foster care and wants to come to Free Market to help volunteer, her Aunt said there are "nice people there." She needs a mentor, she desires to get her 16 year old sister out of foster care, her Aunt said she's a walking testimony. She wants to finish school and get a job and go to college, what we want for our own children, except they have us, they have not lived their life in foster care. She's one example of what older teens live all their life in the social service system, children who want to be loved, want to succeed, want someone to believe in them. Each week God opens our eyes to the true needs of the city, He knocks on our Heart. "What will we do?"
The needs are the same, Housewares are huge, linens, sheets, towels, small appliances, whoever brought the purple microwave made a big hit at the free market!, John just wants a "universal remote." Give it to me it you want him to have one. That's all he came for. The men love the suits, they want a "set". I helped "Elmo" get himself an entire outfit, down to 6 pairs of men's underwear, he has two. Now he has enough for the entire week! I encouraged him to change them everyday!
Underwear, socks, coats, jeans, Big clothes, especially men's clothing, we need it.Toiletries and new friends willing to come see what God is doing in the city!
Thanks for Northminster, willing to fling wide their doors to a lot of stretching on Sat, God is moving, I hope you'll get on! I love you all...forward this to who may need to hear or want to help.
Drop off weekly at NHPC, or Northminster or to someone you know who is already going.
YOU are making a difference, weather you are present, praying or participating,....It's all needed.
His Faithfully,
Cassie Matthew

Hey I loved the blog. I am less in love with the fact that my head is 3 times the size of a normal humans. I look like mrs. Jay Leno. How tragic. Valerie
